NH3 adsorption capacity was affected by the characteristics of carbon surface which could be controlled by metallic oxide. In this work, the activated carbons (ACs) were modified with metallic oxide, such as CuO to improve NH3 adsorption capacity of ACs. The effects of CuO to the surface of carbon were investigated through low temperature nitrogen adsorption, Boehm’s titrations, and XPS measurements. The results showed that the hydrophilicity of AC surface was improved by metal modification, resulting in increasing the NH3 adsorption. |
