Nitric oxide sensing of activated carbon fibers with electroless plated copper |

In this study, the activated carbon fibers electroless plated with copper (Cu-ACFs) have used as highly sensitive sensor material with regard to nitric oxide gas at room temperature. The surface property of Cu-ACFs was investigated by XPS and SEM. Also, their pore structure and specific surface area were assessed by N2 adsorption at 77K. The electrical resistance of the Cu-ACFs was measured using a programmable electrometer to evaluate their sensing property of nitric oxide gas. As a result, the copper content on ACFs increased as the plating time increased. The sensing property of Cu-ACFs about nitric oxide gas increased up to about 200% at 100 ppm. This result indicates that the plated Cu on ACFs is highly effective as gas sensor of nitric oxide gas. |
