Iron-mediated inactivation of MS2 coliphage : Comparison of ferrous ion and nanoparticulate zero-valent ion (nZVI) |
초록 |
This study demonstrates the inactivation of MS2 coliphage (MS2), by nZVI and ferrous ion (Fe[II]) in aqueous solution. For both nZVI and Fe(II), the inactivation efficiency of MS2 under air-saturated conditions was greater than that under deaerated conditions. Although the Fe(II) released from nZVI appears to significantly contribute to the antimicrobial activity of nZVI, several observations suggest that the nZVI surfaces directly interact with the MS2 phages, leading to their inactivation. In addition, ELISA and qRT-PCR analyses showed that the protein capsids of MS2 were more damaged by nZVI than Fe(II). |
