Water treatment using reactive oxidants generated by nanoparticulate zerovalent iron and dissolved oxygen, and its environmental impact |
초록 |
With advances in nanotechnology, nanomaterial-based environmental technologies have been gaining great concerns. Water treatment using nanoparticulate zero-valent iron (nZVI) is one of these technologies currently being studied. nZVI can activate oxygen into reactive oxidants capable of oxidizing a wide range of organic contaminants. nZVI alsohas a strongantimicrobial activity, showing promise as a cost-effectivebiocide. This study demonstrates the applications of nZVI for degradation of contaminants and disinfection, also discusses about the potential toxicity of nZVI since the toxicity of engineered nanoparticles is one of the key current issues associated with widespread use of nanomaterials. |
