The colloidal crystals are highly periodic ordered array of spherical particles of uniform size. Our group have researched the fabrication of nano-patterns using colloidal particles more than 15 years. It is possible to fabricate colloidal crystals with well-known dipping method and the thickness of colloidal layer can be easily controlled. 2D- and 3D- colloidal crystals can be obtained using “confined convective assembly” invented by our laboratory. These colloidal templates can be utilized to fabricate various micro- and nano- patterns. Basically several shape of colloidal structure can be obtained such as rectangular, hexagonal, line, and zigzag. Furthermore thanks to the stretchable capability of PDMS mold, it is possible to have various structural patterns. Finally, I would like to introduce not only preparation of colloidal crystals of micro- and nano- patterns but also their applications to various devices both in EL device and metal pattern and in polymer solar cell devices. |
