For nanoparticles to apply biomedical approaches, in this study, we prepared functionalized magnetic nanoparticles (F-MNPs) using layer-by-layer (LbL) self-assembly method. First, we deposited different materials such as synthesized polymer or carbon material onto MNPs and demonstrated different film thicknesses and morphologies depending on film components or deposition conditions. In an effort to explore their biomedical applications, we also incorporated basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) onto MNPs with various film compositions. The bFGF have different release kinetics and loading amounts depending on different building materials and compositions. Moreover, the bFGF-loaded F-MNPs exhibited no cytotoxicity and better cell proliferation property compared with bare MNPs and pure bFGF, respectively. Therefore, we could realize various bioactive properties F-MNPs by simple deposition through LbL self-assembly. |
