제목 Layer-by-Layer Assembled Anti-Bacterial Coatings
초록 Urushiol-based thin films showed intrinsic hydrophobicity, stability, biocompatibility, and anti-bacterial effect. Urushiol, small molecule is main component of Asian ancient coating material ‘lacquer’ that can produce an extremely strong coating. We successfully fabricated urushiol-based thin films composed of small molecule/polymer multilayers by layer-by-layer assembly techniques. Unique cairn-like nanostructures in this film have advantages of intrinsic hydrophobicity and durability against mechanical stimuli at physiological environment. Also, taking full advantages of unique properties of urushiol, the films have an effect on bacteria. We demonstrated the stability test of this film through a tape peeling, a bending, and structural resistance in phosphate buffered saline condition. And we verified the antimicrobial effects using Gram positive and negative bacteria. The overall properties demonstrate the potential advantages of urushiol thin films in bioengineering areas.
