Fabrication of Biodegradable Hybrid Nanofibrous Sheet for Tissue Adhesion Barrier |

Post-operative peritoneal adhesions are common and give serious complications for surgeons. They can cause patients pain, infertility, and potentially lethal bowel obstruction. This study was designed to evaluate the effect of hybrid nanofibrous sheet with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug on the prevention of post-surgical tissue adhesion. For this goal, hybrid nanofibrous sheets composed of chitosan and PLGA were fabricated by electrospinning method. The hybrid Chitosan/PLGA nanofibrous sheet was characterized by several spectroscopic methods. Cell culture results showed that hybrid nanofibrous mat decreased initial cell attachment and proliferation. From in vivo animal test, it was observed that hybrid nanofibrous sheets were significantly effective in preventing post-operative adhesion and wound healing. |
