Binder Free FeCo2O4@N-doped Carbon Dots Nanoflower Electrode for Application in Electrochemical Water Splitting |

Here we fabricated FeCo2O4@carbon dots (CDs) nanoflowers on nickel foam by hydrothermal method for electrochemical water splitting. The developed material with a sensible choice of CDs reveals enhanced electrocatalytic performance for the hydrogen and oxygen evolution reaction (HER and OER) compared to the pristine FeCo2O4 electrode in alkaline electrolyte. The overpotential of 205 mV was needed to reach the current density of 10 mA cm−2 for HER, while 393 mV was required to achieve the current density of 50 mA cm−2 for OER. The synergy between CDs and FeCo2O4 provides excellent electrocatalytic behavior. The CDs provide abundant active sites and stimulate the electrochemical process by improving the electron transport process. Therefore, this technique proposes an efficient method for the production of metal-oxides conjugated CDs to improve electrochemical water splitting performance. |
