제목 Modeling Nanoporous Structures by Radical Polymerization
초록 Nanoporous materials, often called aerogels, were important materials due to their wide variety of applications in thermal insulation, separation and catalysis. The key idea for developing thermal superinsulator was quite simple; the smaller the pore size of nanoporous materials, the better their insulating property. Since experimental characterization of gel formation was not an easy task due to too many experimental parameters to be influence by, simulations of network formation provided us to acquire fundamental knowledge and test hypotheses related to experimental observations. We investigated the effect of various experimental conditions on the formation of nanoporous structure of crosslinked networks using Brownian dynamics simulation. Nanoporous network structures were formed by radical polymerization of coarse grained monomers at low concentration. The effects of monomer concentration, initiator concentration and the functionality of monomer on pore formation were studied.
