Anisotropic gold (Au) nanoparticles possessing localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) have shown emerging interest to enhance the photocatalytic activities. LSPR can induce the generation of hot carriers, which subsequently lead to enhanced intrinsic enzyme-like activity of nanozymes, such as Pd, Mn and Pt. Here, we prepared the uniform Au nanobipyramids (NBP), with selective decoration of Pd at the end of the tip. The rational design herein proposed allowed to collect the generated hot electrons at the incorporated metal centers, facilitating the generation of hydroxyl radicals by decomposing the H2O2. LSPR-enhanced peroxidase-like activity was further confirmed by TMB based colorimetic assay. Under NIR light irradiation, in vitro and in vivo enzymatic therapeutic effect was significantly enhanced. Our work highlights the ability of this novel and highly efficient hybrid photo-nanozyme as a NIR-responsive tumor therapy. |
