Effect of Physical Stimulation on Peripheral Nerve Regenerationwithin PCL/Pluronic F127 Nerve Guide Conduit |
초록 |
The sufficient functional recovery of damaged peripheral nerves has been considered as one of the clinical challenges. Artificial nerve guide conduits (NGC) to bridge the gap between severed nerve stumps are widely accepted as a useful alternative that creates a favorable environment for nerve regeneration. Recently, we developed a NGC with asymmetrical pore structure and hydrophilicity using polycaprolactone (PCL) and Pluronic F127. In this study, we applied ultrasound as a simple and non-invasive physical stimulus at the NGC-implanted site transcutaneously in rats for the enhanced nerve regeneration through the NGC. It was observed that the NGC-implanted group applied with the ultrasound had more rapid nerve regeneration behavior than the NGC-implanted group without any treatment. From the results, we could expect that the asymmetrically porous NGC/ultrasound system may be very helpful tool for sufficient peripheral nerve regeneration. |
