제목 Ethylene oligomerization process catalyzed by bis(benzimidazolyl) methylamine/pyridyl complexes of Ni(II)
초록 The design and synthesis of efficient transition metal complex catalysts that precisely control olefin coordination polymerization and oligomerization attracted considerable interest recently. In that aspect, we have designed and synthesized a new series of Ni(II) complexes of bis(benzimidazolyl) methylamine/pyridyl ligands with varying electronic nature achieved by virtue of N-alkylation. The methyl amine derived complexes have a distorted octahedral geometry about the Ni center formed by three N atoms from the ligand and three O atoms from the coordinated solvent molecules. The complexes showed productivity in excess of 1.6 x 106 g oligomer molNi-1 h-1 towards ethylene oiligomerization when activated with ethylaluminum sesquichloride (EASC). The oligomer analysis revealed that butenes were the major product (~ 90%) along with the formation of hexenes(~10%).
