Ethylene oligomerization process catalyzed by bis(benzimidazolyl) methylamine/pyridyl complexes of Ni(II) |
초록 |
The design and synthesis of efficient transition metal complex catalysts that precisely control olefin coordination polymerization and oligomerization attracted considerable interest recently. In that aspect, we have designed and synthesized a new series of Ni(II) complexes of bis(benzimidazolyl) methylamine/pyridyl ligands with varying electronic nature achieved by virtue of N-alkylation. The methyl amine derived complexes have a distorted octahedral geometry about the Ni center formed by three N atoms from the ligand and three O atoms from the coordinated solvent molecules. The complexes showed productivity in excess of 1.6 x 106 g oligomer molNi-1 h-1 towards ethylene oiligomerization when activated with ethylaluminum sesquichloride (EASC). The oligomer analysis revealed that butenes were the major product (~ 90%) along with the formation of hexenes(~10%). |
