Two-dimensional TiO2 nanosheets doped with transition metal (Fe, Co, Ni) as a highly active catalysts for oxygen evolution reaction in alkaline electrolyte |
초록 |
Two-dimensional (2D) TiO2 nanosheets doped with Fe/Co/Ni are prepared by exfoliation of acid exchanged layered potassium titanate using tetrabutylammonium hydroxide (TBAOH) as intercalating/delaminating reagent. The nanosheets are mixed with Vulcan XC carbon and tested for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) activity in alkaline condition (0.1 M KOH) using rotating disc electrode (RDE) in a three-electrode setup. Among the catalysts tested Ni-TiO2 show lower overpotential (measured at 10 mA cm-2), when compared to the Fe- or Co- doped TiO2 nanosheet catalysts. Furthermore, co-doping of Fe in Ni-TiO2 shows a 10-fold enhancement in current density at ~300 mV overpotential. The X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) results for Ni 2p transition in Ni-Fe-TiO2 show a minor shift in the peak position towards lower binding energy with respect to the Ni 2p peak in Ni-TiO2. The enhancement in OER activity of Fe co-doped Ni-TiO2 catalyst is attributed to electronic effect of Fe incorporation and due to the formation of oxygenated species. |
