제목 | Effect of sintering inhibitors on the electrochemical property changes with operation time in Ni-YSZ anode for SOFCs |
초록 | A novel processing methodology was developed to study the kinetic of microstructural degradation in nickel-based cermet electrode for solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC). Seven different sintering inhibitor materials were added into anode active layer then screen printed onto commercially available electrolyte. A series of electrochemical performance was carried out at 900oC and 1000oC in humid atmosphere (12% & 20% H2O, N2/H2) during the >400h period. The microstructure of the cermet was observed by SEM equipped with BSE detector which enables to distinguish the Ni, YSZ, and pore phases. Intercept method included in imaging software package was employed to quantify the micrograph. A critical decrease of triple phase boundary (TPB) was observed with the increase of time and temperature exposure which is also inversely corresponding to the coarsening of the metallic particle. The kinetic of reduction of electrochemically active area (TPB) was proved by the increase of area surface resistance of materials over time and temperature. Whereas GDC and CeO2 performed as superior inhibitor in order to preserve the TPB which resulted constant surface resistance during the exposure. |
