Natural zeolite(NZ)-based catalysts have been employed to remove effectively nitrous oxide (N2O), which is widely known as a greenhouse gas as well as an ozone-layer depletion gas, by reductants in the packed-bed flow reactor system. To compare to catalytic performances of NZ catalysts, various commercial synthetic zeolite catalysts are also used under the same reaction conditions. This work has been carried out selective reduction reaction of N2O according to various conditions of space velocity, reductant, water contents, and operating pressure. As a result of the experiment, CH4 has been examined as an effective reductant to reduce N2O, and the higher the pressure increases, the lower reaction temperature shifts about 50∼100 ℃.
