제목 Study on the desorption characteristics of Cesium according to the interlayer spacing of clay minerals
초록 Radioactive cesium (137Cs) is a major environmental pollutant. The mobility of Cs in temperate soils is primarily controlled by sorption onto clay minerals, particularly the frayed edges of illite interlayer. In this study, the Cs desorption characteristics of non-expandable clays (illite) and slightly expandable clays (hydrobiotite) of 2:1 structure were studied. Clay minerals are related to ion exchange and Cs migration depending on the degree of swelling between interlayers. Cs desorbent was reacted for 2 days at 80℃ using 1M NaCl, 0.002M NaTPB and 0.01M EDTA. In non-radioactive experiment (Non-RI), the Cs desorption efficiency was 25.03% in illite and 47.33% in hydrobiotite. hydrobiotite has a higher efficiency for Cs removal than that of illite because hydrobiotite belongs to the group of slightly expandable 2:1 layer silicate minerals, and the swelling structure of hydrobiotite make it easy for the H+ to gain access into exchange with the cations in the interlayer.
