Synthesis of Siloxane-Urethane Copolymer with Fouling Release Behavioras Antifouling Paint Resin |

In marine environments, biofouling is a natural colonization process of a wide range of marine organisms on submerged surfaces. Antifouling paint can be defined as preventing the attachment of organisms onto surfaces. However, the most commonly used antifouling coating which is the tributyltin based self-polishing resin causes the severe pollution of marine environment. In recent years, the novel approaches to controlling the fouling have been investigated to make the non-stick surface without the use of biocides and these types of coatings are known as fouling release coatings. In this study, siloxane-urethane copolymer(SUC) matrices were synthesized by hydroxyalkyl carbamate terminated polydimethylsiloxane, dihydroxylalkyl carbamate terminated polydimethylsiloxane, 4,4’-diphenylmethane diisocyanate and 3-aminopropyl-triethoxysilane. Surface contact angle of SUC matrices was tested by the surface electro optics PHX 300 and the adhension strength was tested by elcometer 110 patti. |
