제목 Nondestructive Evaluation of Thermal Treated Carbon Nanotube and Nanofiber/Composites Using Electro-Micromechanical Technique
초록 Electrical and mechanical properties of carbon nanomaterials (CNMs) reinforced epoxy composites depend on various parameters such as inherent properties of CNMs, the degree of dispersion, aspect ratio, shape and content, etc. Among them, the degree of dispersion is one of the very important factors affecting on electrical and mechanical properties. Nondestructive damage sensitivity and electrical properties of thermal treated carbon nanotube (CNT) and nanofiber (CNF)/epoxy composites were investigated using electro-micromechanical technique. Carbon black (CB) was also used for the comparison. To improve electrical and mechanical properties, the surface of CNT and CNF was thermally treated at 400 °C for 1 hour. Volumetric electrical resistance was measured with increasing temperature from 30 to 100 °C ranges for the untreated and thermal treated cases, respectively. For both the untreated and thermal-treated cases, CNT showed lower electrical resistance than CNF and CB. For the untreated case, electrical resistance increased with temperature for CNF and CB cases, whereas CNT showed a slight decrease. However, electrical resistance increased totally after thermal treatment for three CNMs. Apparent modulus and electrical resistance increased for thermal treated case than the untreated case.
