We fabricated organic thin film transistors (OTFTs) with the twisted biaryl monolayers coated between the insulator and semiconductor layers. The biaryl monolayer surface, especially binaphthyl (BN) monolayer, is rough only on the molecular level and can be regarded as a field of molecular hedgehogs. Pentacene molecules were thermally deposited on the BN monolayer at different flux and substrate temperature, and then source and drain electrodes were also thermally deposited by using shadow mask. The electrical properties and crystal structures of these devices compared to those of non-coated and octadecyltrichlorosilane (ODTS)-treated ones using atomic force microscope (AFM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Furthermore, we researched the effect of postannealing treatment on the properties of the OTFT in ultra-high vacuum. |
