In this study, gold surfaces modified with 1-Decanethiol[DT], Heptadecafluoro-1-decanethiol[HDFDT], Tridecafluoro-1-octanethiol[TDFOT] were characterized by He(I) UPS. Changes in the effective work function of these surfaces due to presence of significant interfacial dipoles are observed. The hole injection barriers at the pentacene/Au, pentacene/DT/Au, pentacene/HDFDT/Au and pentacene/TDFOT/Au were determined using in-situ thin film deposition in combination with X-ray and ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy at PAL-4B1 beam line. And we have fabricated bottom contact pentacene-based OFETs by using alkanethiol and partially fluorinated alkanethiol self-assembled monolayers(SAMs) to change the hole injection barriers of the metal electrodes and morphology of the pentacene subsequently grown on the electrodes. In this way, we have obtained high-performance bottom contact OFETs which may be formed using a process compatible with lithographic process of the source and drain electrodes. |
