Soluble small organic molecules as active layer materials in photovoltaic cells have advantages such as facile synthesis and easy purification over polymeric materials, but suffer from low efficiency. To enhance their performance, light absorption at longer wavelengths and efficient transport of charge carriers are of great importance. In this study, we tried to achieve the former by the expansion of π-conjugation and the latter by self-assembly of the molecules. We prepared anthracene derivatives having dendritic oligothiophenes with extended π-conjugation and investigated their photophysical properties and self-assembly behaviors. |
