Carbon nanotubes are widely investigated as composite materials due to their novel structural, electronic, and mechanical properties. Especially well-arrayed CNTs are highly desirable to enhance the physical and electrical properties in nanodevices. In this study, we studied on the preparation of organogel/SWNT nanocomposites. A thiophene-based gelator was synthesized, which showed an ability to gelate organic solvents such as toluene, xylene, tetrahydrofuran, and chloroform. An organogel/SWNT nanocomposite was obtained by dispersing SWNTs in an organogel consisting of the organogelator, a cross-linker, and solvent molecules. In the gel state, the mixture was cross-linked by thermal polymerization to produce a porous composite material. |
