제목 Process development for the one-step synthesis of laurolactam as a monomer for PA-12
초록  Thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) is known to have both elastomeric and thermoplastic properties. Among these TPEs, the global demand for polyamide based thermoplastic elastomers (TPAEs) is continuously increasing in recent years because of their excellent properties like chemical and hydrolytic resistance, thermal stability, elastic recovery and so on. Polyamide-12 (PA-12) elastomers are widely used hard segments of TPAEs and laurolactam is a representative monomer for the PA-12.

 In this work, we have developed an efficient one-step process for the synthesis of laurolactam from a commercially available cyclododecanone via Beckmann rearrangement reaction. A convenient purification method, recrystallization is also studied for the application in the industry.
