One dimensional titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanostructures have excellent properties for photocatalysis, sensing, self-cleaning coating, solar cells and photovoltaic applications. Especially the fabrication of hierarchical TiO2 nanowires(tubes) has attracted considerable interest because of their large surface area which is key parameter in enhancing the effectiveness of TiO2 in various applications. In this work, hierarchical titania nanowires(tubes) were easily generated by using track-etched polycarbonate (PC) membrane as template and filling titanium precursor included the surfactant into the pores of the template. The diameter of the wires(tubes) can be controlled based on the template pore sizes. Calcination process was conducted to remove PC membrane template and surfactants at high temperature. The characteristics of hierarchical titania nanowires(tubes) were examined by FE-SEM. |
