Microporous polyethylene separator(PE separator) are widely used for automotive flooded batteries because of their ultrafine pore size, outstanding oxidation and strength. In this study, the effect of wetting agent (W/A) such as sodium sulfosuccinate on electrical resistance of PE separator composite in the presence of an electrolyte of were studied. PE separator is manufactured by mixing UHMWPE resin, silica powder, process oil, wetting agent, and additives. The mixture is extruded and small pores are formed by extracting the process oil. As a result of modification with W/A, electrical properties and wettability of the PE separator were improved. |
