Polyether-b-amide12 (PEBAX) elastomers were studied for structural characterization. The in-situ SAXS and WAXS strategy at synchrotron was adopted during the uniaxial deformation of the samples to track the morphological change of the lamellar, crystal structure evolution of polyamide-12 block, and strain-induced crystallization of polyether block. The WAXS revealed crystalline phase in the un-deformed state, a transient α’’-phase at the earlier stage of deformation, and ’-phase near the sample break point for polyamide-12 block. PEBAX 2533 showed same behavior as PEBAX 6333 in terms of polamide-12 block with the difference in longer lifetime of transient α-phase of polyamide-12 and crystallization of polyether block at higher strain in WAXS. The lamellar morphology revealed by SAXS for both of the samples showed same behavior with difference in the developments of lamellar orientation at different stages of strain and fibrils formation in PEBAX 2533 at higher strain. |
