With attractive visible-light response and chemical stability, CuWO4 has appeared to be a photoanode for photoelectrochemical (PEC) water oxidation. CuWO4 with a narrow band gap of 2.2-2.4 eV, has a theoretical photocurrent up to 10 mA/cm2, which exhibits great potential to be used as visible light response photoanode for oxygen evolution. The limitation of CuWO4 belongs to the slow charge carrier transport, high recombination rate and sluggish surface reaction kinetics. In this work, CuWO4 nanoflake (NF) is prepared by using a solid phase reaction method in which WO3 were employed as sacrificial templates. By administering the thermal duration, the different crystalline quality of CuWO4 photoanodes will be achieved. The CuWO4 film obtained with an amenable thermal reaction time will be deposited FeOOH which plays as cocatalyst assisting in electron-hole separation and lower the activation energy or overpotential for oxygen evolution reaction on the surface of the photocatalysts |
