Synthesis of Conductive Polymer/Graphite Composite Films Without Graphite Surface Modifications Using Amphiphilic Reactive dispersion agents |

Conductive polymer/graphite composites were fabricated using two different dispersion agents, urethane acrylate nonionomer (UAN) and PEG modified urethane acrylate (PMUA). Unlike conventional methods, the composites were prepared via free radical insitu polymerization of the oligomers in the presence of untreated graphite. SEM studies on the composites show that graphite is homogeneously distributed in the polymer matrix. Conductivities of 10-1S/cm were attained with UAN and 10-2S/cm with PMUA at 50wt% loading. The films produced can find application as bipolar plate materials in polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEMFC). |
