In 2007, National Science Foundation (NSF) in USA launched the Partnerships for International Research and Education (PIRE) program between US and Korea to promote and catalyze a higher level of international engagement on polymer materials. This 5 year PIRE project has been promoting collaborative research and education efforts between polymer scientists and engineers at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (US PI institute), University of Massachusetts at Amherst, University of Texas at Austin, North Carolina State University, Princeton University, Pohang University of Science and Technology (Korean PI institute), Seoul National University, Sogang University, and Yonsei University. The presentation include many highlights of our PIRE activities and provide an overview of our 2-day program at PSK meeting that would greatly benefit us to prepare the renewal proposal of the NSF PIRE program in 2011. |
