제목 Attachment and Proliferation of Rabbit Corneal Endothelial Cells on Vanillin/PLGA Film
초록 The corneal endothelial cells (CECs) are single layer of cells on the inner surface of the cornea and maintains the cornea in the slightly dehydrated state that is required for optical transparency. Vanillin is one of major components of vanilla, a commonly used flavoring agent and preservative and is known to exert potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. Poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) is a biodegradable synthetic polymer with acceptable mechanical strength and well-controlled degradation rate. In this study, we performed MTT, SEM, fluorescence staining, ELISA, RT-PCR, and FACS. We confirmed the adhesion and the proliferation of rabbit CECs on vanillin/PLGA. The increased hydrophilic surface of the vanillin/PLGA films accounts for their more cell-biomaterials interactions and higher cell attachment than the PLGA film. These results demonstrated that vanillin/PLGA films provide suitable surface for CECs. This research was supported by WCU (R31-20029).
