Corneal endothelium is the single layer of cells at the most posterior part of the cornea. Corneal endothelial cell loss, it will require transplantation of the entire cornea. The silk one of the most remarkable fibers found in nature, combining durability, exceptional strength, toughness and biocompatibility. Poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) is a FDA approved good biocompatible, biodegradable polymer. Also it has been generally used in tissue engineering applications. In this study, we investigated the human corneal endothelial cells with PLGA film, 20% silk/PLGA film, silk thin film. we performed cell adhesion, cell viability, morphology and specific mRNA expression by Mechanical test , Transparency test , MTS assay, live/dead cells assay, q-PCR and scanning electron microscope (SEM). In this study, we confirmed silk thin film provide suitable environment for growth and proliferation of corneal endothelial cells.
