I designed and synthesized new polymeric semiconducting materials which have thiophene and various aromatic core units. I will investigate the effects of various aromatic core units on optical and electrochemical properties and TFT performances. In addition, these new semiconducting polymers have two types of alkyl side chain alignment systems. In the case of Group A, alkyl-thiophenes were inserted next to the repeat units of general interdigitated thiophene-based polymers such as PQT-12, PDT2Se2, and PBTTT, to improve the solubility. In contrast, in the case of Group B, unsubstituted thiophene rings were inserted between alkyl-thiophenes in Group A repeat unit to change the direction of additional alkyl-thiophenes. Thus, I will investigate the effects of alkyl side chain alignments on intermolecular ordering and TFT performances. |
