One of the major challenges in bulk-heterojunction solar cell is to fabricate devices that have a panchromatic absorption and high extinction coefficient. Here, we develop various energy donor materials, blue, green, and red iridium complex for PTB7 as an energy acceptor. These energy donors have different absorptions, emissions, and quantum yields, which are critical factors for an energy transfer. In addition, the overlap between the emission spectrum of energy donor and the absorption spectrum of energy acceptor, the other important factor of energy transfer, is in the order of blue < green < red. To find out the best customized energy donor for PTB7, we fabricated the devices with a following structure, ITO/ZnO/PTB7:PCBM:iridium complex/MoO3/Ag. As a result, light harvesting efficiency was enhanced with increasing energy transfer efficiency in the order of without Ir complex < green < blue < red, and thereby the increase of power conversion efficiency. |
