제목 Sustained-Release of Therapeutic Proteins from Multilayer Films Assembled on the Sidewalls of Nanoporous Templates
초록 Drug release systems based on the layer-by-layer (LbL) assembled multilayer films have recently received much attention due to their ability to easily incorporate biomolecules within the thin film geometry and to release the assembled biomolecules through film degradation. However, in many cases, such multilayer films are immediately degraded with the release of active agents incorporated from the very early stage, resulting in the initial burst release or the very short drug release period. In the present study, in order to overcome such limitations, nanoporous substrates were employed as substrates for the LbL deposition, instead of conventionally used flat substrates. By varying the pore size of nanoporous templates used, we were able to modulate the release kinetics of model proteins, allowing the release of biomolecules in more sustained manner with the suppression of initial burst release in the early stage due to the phenomena termed as the “hindered” diffusion.
