제목 | Ring-opening polymerization of Methylenecyclopropanes by Pd(II) complexes∵ |
초록 | Late transition metal-catalyzed polymerization of α-olefins has attracted current attention. Methylenecyclopropanes, which are the cyclic isomer of 1,3-dienes, have high potentiality as a monomer of the polymerization promoted by transition metal complexes. However, there have been a few number of the reports of the ring-opening polymerization of these molecules triggered by insertion of the C=C double bond into the M-C bond. Marks, Jia and their co-workers found that cationic metallocene of Zr and Lu promotes the ring-opening polymerization of Methylenecyclopropane to produce a new polymer, (CH2-CH2-C(=CH2)-)n. This work presents that Pd(II) complex-catalyzed ring-opening polymerization of 2-aryl-1-methylenecyclopropanes leads to a polymer. For example of reaction, addition of 2-phenyl-1-methylenecyclopropane (1.8 M) to a acetonitrile solution(1.0 mL) of Pd(II) complex(25 mM) and NaBF4 (75 mM) and subsequent heating of the mixture at 80℃ for 24h led to polymerization 2-phenyl-1-methylenecyclopropane giving polymer in 72% yield. Molecular weight and molecular weight distribution of the produced polymer were 6,900 and 1.24, respectively, and possessed exo-methylene group on polymer main chain, which is of potential use for further functionalization of the polymer. 1H and 13C NMR spectra showed that the produced polymer is composed exclusively of (CH2-C(=CH2)-CHPh-) units with well regulated head-to-tail sequence. |
