Mutual Solubilities of Palm Oil and Supercritical Carbon Dioxide |
초록 |
Supercritical fluid extraction is a promising method to manufacture diet food from fatted raw material because carbon dioxide as a supercritical solvent is not toxic. Phase equilibria data is necessary to develop the manufacturing process to produce the defatted food by supercritical carbon dioxide. In this work the mutual solubilities of palm oil and supercritical carbon dioxide were measured in circulation method at pressures between 8.5 and 24 MPa and temperatures of 333.15 and 373.15 K. N-hexane was used as a solvent in the binary system of palm oil and carbon dioxide. Samples of palm oil in n-hexane were analyzed by UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The solubility of palm oil in the gaseous phase and carbon dioxide in the liquid phase were measured at various temperature and pressure. The experimental data were correlated using the Peng-Robinson Equation of State (EOS) with the van der Waals mixing rule for the binary interaction parameters. The Peng-Robinson EOS described well in the phase equilibrium data of the binary system. |
