An hetero-epitaxially grown zeolite membrane is very promising for its secondary growth methodology since homo-epitaxially grown zeolite requires strict conditions to be formed. Notwithstanding former studies on hetero-epitaxial growth, performance of hetero-epitaxially grown zeolite membrane has fallen short of expectations until now. Herein, SSZ-13 (CHA type zeolite) seed layer was formed formerly to grow highly siliceous ZSM-58 (DDR type zeolite) membranes. Performance of the membrane (CO2 permselectivity) was outstanding, showing CO2/N2 and CO2/CH4 separation factors up to 17 and 279, respectively, at 30 °C. In addition, the hetero-epitaxially grown zeolite membrane also showed high performance under wet conditions, showing CO2/N2 and CO2/CH4 separation factors up to 14 and 78, respectively, at 50 °C. |
