Synthesis of Carbonated Soybeanoil using Carbon Dioxide and Nonisocyanate Polyurethane by diamine |

Renewable raw materials have an important role in the development of sustainable materials in green chemistry. They offer a large number of possibilities for applications which can be rarely met by petrochemistry. Soybean oil (SBO) is sustainable material for efficient green chemistry. The epoxidation of SBO with performic acid generated in situ by the reaction of hydrogen peroxide and formic acid. Epoxidized soybean oil was effectively converted to carbonated soybean oil (CSBO) containing cyclic carbonates by reaction with carbon dioxide in the presence of tetrabutylammonium bromide. CSBO could easily react with amine to give the corresponding nonisocyanate polyurethane networks. The resultant products are confirmed by nuclear magnetic resonance and Infrared spectroscopy. All cured samples were characterized using thermogravimetric Analysis, differential scanning calorimeter and universal testing machine. |
