Cinnamic acid and its derivative (e.g. 2-(hexadecyloxy)cinnamic acid (HDCA)) have been used in the light-sensitive research of their photo-responsive chemical characteristic. HDCA is dimerized by cyclobutane bridge between HDCAs at UV irradiation at λ=254nm (6W). Dioleoylphosphatidylethanolamine (DOPE) liposomes were developed by incorporating cholesteryl hemisuccinate (CHEMS) in DOPE liposomal membrane because DOPE liposome require a complementrary molecules for stabilization. In this study, DOPE liposome was stabilized due to HDCA instead of CHEMS. The ratio of DOPE to HDCA were 5:0, 4:1, 3:2, 2:3 and 1:4 (mol/mol). The release of 5(6)-carboxyfluorescein (CF) from DOPE liposome incorporating HDCA was enhanced by UV irradiation of λ=254nm (6W) because of DOPE liposomal membrane undergo mechanical stress due to the photo-dimerization of cyclobutatne bridge between HDCAs. |
