Ni-based electrocatalysts have showed their great performances for both hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) with low overpotentials and long-term stabilities. Wired to a photovoltaic cell, solar-to-hydrogen energy conversion efficiency of an electrocatalytic reactior with Ni-foam-based NiFe-LDH and NiMo electrodes could be estimated quantitatively. Additionally, desalinating function of the reactor was evaluated in terms of energy consumption of the whole reactor. With the bipolar membranes (BPMs) on the both end of the desalination cell between anolyte and catholyte, pH of two electrocatalytic chambers remained at initial values. |
