Sol-gel technique deposited Cu2ZnSnS4 thin films at different annealing temperatures |

In this study, we investigated the effects of various annealing temperatures on the sol-gel technique deposited Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) thin films. The films were prepared on the Molybdenum substrates and annealed in a graphite box contained certain amount of sulphur (S) powder. The effects of various annealing temperatures on the morphological, structural, compositional, and optical properties of the CZTS thin films investigated using rapid thermal annealing system. Field emission scanning electron microscopy studies on the CZTS thin films showed that all the films were made up of large grains, pin hole free with thickness ~ 900 nm. Atomic force microscopy study showed that the CZTS films prepared at 575 °C had low RMS value. X-ray diffraction and Raman study for the CZTS thin films showed formation of Kesterite phase CZTS. All the CZTS films were nearly stoichiometric confirmed with the help of X-ray fluorescence and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The direct band gap energy of the CZTS thin films falls between 1.3 to 1.6 eV. |
