초록 | Metal nanostructures have attracted interest as promising materials for various applications including electronics, photonics, catalysis, environmental monitoring and biomedicine. However, their practical applications still require solving few critical problems: rational design and scalable & environmentally-benign synthesis of metal nanostructures with excellent optical properties, active control of the motion and orientation, and efficient integration of such tiny structures into functional optical, electrical, or microfluidic devices. In this talk, I will introduce basics of plasmonic nanostructures from the viewpoint of optical properties and discuss few studies on their potential utility toward biomedicine and environmental monitoring. Then, I will highlight our recent achievements on the spontaneous formation of novel plasmonic cavity and autonomous motion control of anisotropic metal nanostructures at liquid interfaces. Some critical issues to overcome will be also discussed. |
