Direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) using proton-exchange membrane has been considered as one of the most attractive power source for the applications of portable power sources. For high performance DMFC, the membrane should have sufficiently high proton conductivity, low methanol crossover through the membrane, high water uptake and good mechanical stability. In this study, sulfonated poly(ether-block-amide) (sPEBA) were prepared via N-substitution reaction of the polyamide segment of PEBA and the performance properties of the sPEBA membrane such proton conductivity, methanol permeability, water uptake and mechanical properties were examined. |
