PSA compositions can be segmented by the type of base polymer; rubber, acrylic, polyurethane and silicone. In general, acrylic PSAs are mainly used for PSA tapes or labels. But polyurethane has high peel strength as well as the adhesive properties of which are barely degraded due to aging. In this study, polyurethane based PSAs were prepared by polyaddition reaction using polyether polyol, aliphatic diisocyanate and diol and a series of Polyurethane PSAs were mixed with tack promoter as an additive. Substrates chosen for peel strength experiments were : Glass, stainless steel, poly(methylmethacrylate) (PMMA), polycarbonate (PC) and polypropylene (PP). Surface tension and contact angle of PU films were measured, and peel strength and tack were tested by tack tester. |
