Plastics have become an integral part of our life because of their superior proeprties such as light weight, low production cost, high flexibility, and easy manufacturing. However, the mechanical properties of pristine plastics do not always satisfy the commercial requirements for various applications under harsh conditions. Inthe current study, biodegradable nanocomposites consisting of poly(butylene succinate)(PBS) and cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) were fabricated using a solutionblending method in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). The rheological responses of thePBS/CNC nanocomposites were explored in terms of the filler amount (0.5-3.0 wt%of CNC) and measurement temperature (160-200 °C). The rheological properties ofthe nanocomposites at the filler content below 1.0 wt% was reminiscent of thatof neat PBS, while the behavior of nanocomposites above the 1.0 wt% was substantiallychanged. |
