Polymer/clay nanocomposites as a new class of composites are particle-filled polymers for which at least one dimension of the dispersed particles is in the nanometer range. These have demonstrated several physical property enhancements that are otherwise unavailable in conventional composites. In this presentation, our recent efforts on synthesis and physical characterization of various kinds of polymer/clay nanocomposites including conducting polymers, biodegradable polymers and other polymers and their blend systems will be reviewed. Their rheological properties via several testing modes; steady shear rotation, oscillation, and creep will be interpreted with their mophology. A response under an applied electric field of the conducting polymer nanocomposites will be also discussed based on their electrorheology. [1] Hyun et al.
