제목 Film- and plastic-based microfluidic lab-on-a-chip and automation system for on-site molecular diagnosis
초록 The combination of a microfluidic lab-on-a-chip (LOC) and a miniaturized automation system enables fast and accurate on-site molecular diagnostics by non-experts. Substrate materials for LOC, started from silicon wafers and glass, have recently diversified into low-cost plastics, films and papers. In this study, fabrication process for film-based LOC is introduced. The process includes film-cutting, plastic-injection molding and photo-lithography. Sample inlet and waste outlet, DNA extractors, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) reactors, channels, valves, mixers, bubble traps, sensors, and waste chambers were fabricated by stacking various films. Automated systems using the film-based LOC were constructed for the on-site molecular diagnosis. As a representative example, a fully automated food poisoning bacteria discriminator is introduced.
