Thenear-infrared (NIR) absorbing film is a film to block unnecessary near-infraredlight. The NIR absorbing film is a pivotal component to improve the imagequality of digital cameras. In this study, we investigated the stability of NIRabsorbing films incorporating NIR absorbing dyes by varying the kind oftransparent polymeric binders, which have different thermal stability. We evaluatedthe optical properties, thermal stability, and microscopic morphology of theNIR absorbing films and studied the change of these properties by the heattreatment. The diimmonium dyes showed decomposition and discoloration in thefilms using binders with low thermal stability due to the change of moleculararrangement. In summary, we could improve the stability of NIR absorbing films basedon diimmonium dyes by applying binders with high thermal stability. |
