In this work, nickel clusters were plated on the surfaces of porous carbon fibers (PCFs) in order to investigate the effects of the presence of Ni clusters on high pressure hydrogen storage behaviors of the PCFs. The high pressure hydrogen storage behaviors of the PCFs were studied by using PCT apparatus at 100 bar and 298K. As an experimental result, it was found that Ni clusters fully covered carbon surfaces and Ni content was increased with increasing plating time. In case of hydrogen storage, all Ni-plated carbons showed high amount of hydrogen. This result indicated that metal clusters on the carbon surfaces predominantly enhanced hydrogen gas storage in the metal/carbon systems. |
